On Wednesday morning we joined with room 18 to participate in the beach education programme at Paekakariki Holiday Park.
First up we did a tour of the equipment in the surf club. We saw the I.R.Bs, knee boards and a racing boat called the Black Panther.
Next we went upstairs and Zoë the lifeguard showed us how to recognise rips, 10 beach safety rules and lots more. We also had fun watching Lewis get dressed up in the lifeguards sun smart gear. However he put on a bit too much sunscreen. Next we did baton races they were fun too.
Then it was time to go in the sea. We started off wading but some people got so cold they had to get out. We have to admit we were freezing our butts off ourselves. The water was actually really warm but the wind was so cold.Overall beach education was a fun activity.
